COLLEGE & CAREER SUCCESS DIRECTOR
Heart of Los Angeles
Roberto was born and raised in Los Angeles, and mainly grew up in the South Central Los Angeles area. He attended Humboldt State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and minor in Political Science. While at college, he gained plenty of experience volunteering with Puentes, working at the university's financial aid office, and interning at the LA84 Foundation and the Los Angeles City Council District 11.
As a young student, Roberto did not know of opportunities and resources available to him, and now as a college graduate, he wants to break that cycle. He believes that youth are our future and wants them to stay informed to make their own communities and world a better place. He marks that HOLA's mission to make kids not just better students, but empowered individuals outside of the school setting is what drives his work with HOLA. Working as the College Success Alumni and Scholarships Program Manager, he wants to have an impact on students' outlook for a better future, expanding what success means whether in school, career, or life.
He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Public Administration. With this, he hopes to be able to advocate for students enrollment in college, either making it financially feasible or more accessible to students no matter their background through policy.
